Axis Comet 3 is the new intermediate class glider certified in EN-B category. It is primarily designed for less experienced to very advance novice pilots flying XC-flights, but also appeals to experienced pilots, thanks to its relatively high performance.
Incorporating the latest technologies, it has even more performance than its successful predecessor Axis Comet 2 with the same highest level of passive safety. We managed to correct only flaw of his predecessor’s – not-so-perfect inflation while taking off in no wind conditions. Axis Comet 3 is now virtually effortless to start in all wind conditions.
Axis Comet 3 was a development from its predecessor, but with a new profile and higher AR, which resulted in higher glide-ratio in all speeds. Another significant improvement is the brand new line construction. The glider is now pure 3-liner, a technology commonly used in gliders of higher categories (EN-C and EN-D), we managed to reduce the total drag of lines (by using smaller diamters) consumption to its predecessor by another 10 %, which participates to the above-mentioned increase in performance, all while maintaining a soft and progressive forces in brakes/steering, as required by EN-B category. When using Axis Comet 3 with PPG, it is recommended to equip the glider with trimmer risers.
FABRIC / MATERIALS USED
Axis Comet 3 is made from materials of traditional French manufacturer Porcher Sport. On the bottom of the canopy is used a new, lightweight material S70032 which weights only 32 g / m2, and on top is used proven material S 9017 E25 (38 g / m2), and diagonal ribs are from S70032 E3W-hard (32 g / m2). Lines are in sizes 0.6 to 1.8 mm and are made from a combination of Dyneema quality from traditional German manufacturer Liros GmbH (at central A and B) and Vectran quality from French producer Cousin trestec (outer A and B, and the entire C).
The glider is normally produced in 3 basic color combinations: Flame, Summer and Eco. On request, it can be manufactured in color combinations according to the customer – but here it is necessary to count with extra charge and longer delivery times.
